Way to go grandpa! So where are you going to hang this one?
My dad got really lucky this year, and drew a very special Monroe Elk tag. Steven has been putting in for this area for like 13 years, and hasn't been lucky yet. This tag, for you frequent visitors, is for the mountain that we take our annual fourth of July camping trip, and where the beautiful pictures from previous post were taken. Well, when Wesley heard that Grandpa was going to the "circus mountain", (Wesley calls it this because on our last trip we rode out onto what is referred to as "the circle" to watch the fire works, but Wesley thinks the word circle is really circus, and if I were you, I wouldn't try to tell him differently.) so he hears that grandpa is going to the circus mountain, AND is going to hunt elk up there, he was all over it. He told everyone he was going hunting with his dad and his grandpa. I don't think he could have been more excited if it were Christmas. I think he packed his suitcase every other day. By the way it is pretty interesting what kids think think they need to pack. In Wesleys case it consisted of: no socks, everything that he owned that was camouflage, all pajama tops no pajama bottoms, no underwear, Millie's cowboy boots, his Darth Mall, moon boots, and his pocket knife, (so that he could kill an elk) duh! So Grandpa got his elk, and Wesley got to go hunting on the "circus mountain"! He also got to see a hawk take a fish right from the lake, bugle in the elk and witness two bull elk fight it out! He had fun to say the least. I think I have another hunter on my hands. It was kind of scary to let him go, knowing there wouldn't be any female supervision. I told him if he got lost to just sit down where he was at and just start screaming. But his dad , grandpa, and uncle Nate did a great job of not losing him, I couldn't have done better myself. He even came back clean! It is so great to see your children so excited about things. And it amazes me how different each of our children can be from the others. Jesse didn't want to go because he'd have to miss school! If only we could know that our children could always be this happy.

For those of you that have been waiting for the dead animal pictures and the gut pile picture, well here it they are!

Back In Aug. we went for a hike, yes I know most of you are planning you ice skating in hell trip, but I really did go hiking and I was not even the last one to the waterfall! Are you so proud of me, I'm proud of me. I was told it was about a quarter mile hike, yeah, it was more like a mile and a half, and seemed like 20, but I made it!

Playing catch-up

Okay, this is for those of you who are bugging me about updating this more often, you know who you are(Aubrie). Well first of all I have to say that my reason for not updating lately is that Steven has been hunting ALOT lately and has had the camera with him, and while I understand that I don't have to have to have pictures to add a new entry, it does make it better right? So therefore I decided that I'll just add with out pictures.
So, the kids have gone back to school FABULOUS! They all seem to like their teachers. Wesley even started back at pre-school last week. He was very excited and Mrs. Angie says she can already see how much he has improved since last year. But that also means that my baby is growing up, which even though I am SOOOOOOOOOOO glad that I will NOT be having any more babies, it is still kind of sad to see him grow up so fast. He came in the other day and told me thwt there was a chick-a-wa-wa(chiuaua) pooping on our lawn. Got to love him!
Steven got himself an Elk last week, not a trophy, but it fulfilled his need to kill something, well for now anyway.
I've been reading alot lately, with the kids gone, there are a few hours between noon and 4:00 that I usually have nothing to do so I read, LOVE IT!
Well I shall post new pictures soon I promise. And if you're really lucky I might even post pictures of Steven's dead animal, and it's gut pile (yes, I did say gut pile and it is exactly what I say it is). Yes, that was for you too Aubrie!
